Notes: The technology of power systems has changed drastically in the last decade, yet most ham's concepts of shack power, field power, emergency power and renewable power or woefully out of date. Did you know you can use a modern loaptop power supply on anything from 100 to 240 VAC OR 150 to 330 VDC?
It can provide up to 6 amps for portable operation and take only 10% the size and weight of older power supplies. Also Home Solar has come of age. Payback is now in under 5 years and then you get free power for LIFE!

Distance willing to travel: I would certainly go up to Baltimore, down to Alexandria, west to Winchester, east to Cambridge. Winchester is about as far as I would want to go for an evening meeting. If Google maps says it is two hours or less I can do it. If it is further than that I would need overnight hospitality and gasoline money.
